Exploring Science and Curiosity at the Great Lakes Science Center

Updated: Dec 3, 2023

CLEVELAND - The Great Lakes Science Center is a hub for STEM learning and exploration located in the heart of downtown Cleveland. Its mission is to bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life through hands-on experiences and real scientific challenges. This is precisely what Gremi experienced when he visited the center.

Guided by Emalee Shechter, Gremi explored numerous exhibits, including the plasma tubes, a Rube Goldberg machine, and some one-on-one experiments that involved liquid nitrogen and Elephant toothpaste. The visit also featured a tour of the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, which boasts an actual Apollo capsule that went on a mission to SkyLab, the precursor of the ISS, and a moon rock from the Apollo 15 mission.

The Great Lakes Science Center is committed to cultivating creative, innovative, and critical thinkers who can solve real-world problems. It supports a learning culture that encourages curiosity and experimentation, and it brings people together by creating welcoming and high-quality guest experiences.

The center champions diversity, access, equity, and inclusion, and considers them essential for institutional excellence and fulfilling its vision of a community where all people value STEM to inform decision-making and enrich lives. The collective sum of individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, ingenuity, self-expression, and unique capabilities make up the strength of the center's employees, volunteers, guests, and partners.

The Great Lakes Science Center is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in STEM learning and exploration. Its commitment to diversity, access, equity, and inclusion makes it a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors.
