Love-A-Stray's Annual Bowling Event Inspires Local Pet Lovers

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

AVON LAKE- Love-A-Stray is making waves in the animal welfare community with their recent event, "Strikes for Strays." The 18-year-old non-profit organization, which is dedicated to helping homeless animals, held the event on Sunday, February 26, 2023, and it was a huge success! Attendees were treated to twenty raffles featuring baskets and goodies donated to Love-A-Stray, all in an effort to raise money for their cause.

The event was hosted by the dynamic duo, Jim and Joel Spevock, at their family-run bowling alley, "Spevock's Nautical Lanes." These two brothers have been in business for almost two decades and have a passion for the mission of Love-A-Stray that's just as strong as their love for bowling (which is a LOT!). In fact, Joel has even adopted a dog from the organization, so it's clear that this cause is near and dear to their hearts.

Emceed by Todd Meany from Fox 8 News, the event was buzzing with excitement as people came out to show their support for Love-A-Stray's four-fold mission. This includes lessening pet overpopulation by employing aggressive low-cost spay/neuter programs, offering housing and medical treatment for unwanted, homeless animals, providing innovative behavior rehabilitation, and educating the public on the importance of being an advocate for animals.

One notable attendee was Gremi, the host of CleveItToUs, who was inspired by Love-A-Stray's mission and the outpouring of support from the community. The organization's animals are housed in foster homes, which means that every penny raised from adoption fees, fundraising efforts, and donations goes directly towards helping these lovable canines.

Love-A-Stray has perfected a vetting and matching process that ensures each pet is paired with the perfect family for a loving, compatible, permanent home. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and put towards a very good cause. If you're looking to make a difference and share your heart and home with a furry friend in need, Love-A-Stray is the perfect organization to get involved with.

Love-A-Stray has spent the last 18 years making a real difference in the lives of homeless animals. So, let's all come together and show our support for this amazing organization by volunteering, donating, and sharing their message. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these lovable animals who need our help.
